Health Care Agency
Bi-Annual Eye Exams
These exams are offered as a service to our community by physicians in our area and target the elderly. The examinations are held at the physician’s office and will be publicized through local media.
Wesley Community Clinic:
Our newly renovated facility houses 3 adult examination rooms and one pediatric examination room, a waiting room, triage area, pharmacy, and an office for patient paperwork and privacy. Here, we offer free medical care through a staff of volunteer medical professionals who graciously offer their time and talents in order to best serve those in need of their care. We offer help for non-emergent needs.
All appointments are made through an application process at the Intake Office. This clinic serves anyone who does not have health care coverage of any kind. We also serve those who have recently applied for Medicare or Medicaid and are waiting for that coverage to kick in…the waiting period is 6 months. A person may receive treatment at our facility during that time.

Free Medicine
The Wesley Community Clinic offers free medication through our in house pharmacy. For those medicines that we do not have in stock, a prescription will be written and the patient will be sent to a local pharmacy to obtain their medicine. If the patient needs help in order to purchase it, they will be encouraged to come back and file an application for assistance through the Intake Office.
-
GYN Examinations
Appointments are made for Tuesday evenings with our Nurse Midwife. She performs GYN examinations and laboratory work through the Wesley Clinic, located at Wesley House. Services are provided free of charge. To make an appointment, call 601.485.4736.
The Wesley Clinic also will make an appointment for those needing mammograms. These are provided through Jeff Anderson Hospital. Ultra-sound is provided, if needed. Services are free of charge.
If surgery is required, the Wesley Clinic will refer a patient to Rush Hospital. This hospital offers a charity rate for patients who qualify. For more information, contact Mr. Andy Hodges, 601.485.4736.
-
Pharmaceutical Program
Patients that have chronic illnesses require on-going medications for maintenance. A three month supply of medicine may be ordered from the Pharmaceutical Company free of charge or at a minimal charge to the patient. This can be managed through the Wesley Community Clinic by a phone call to one of our reliable staff.
-
Disability Assistance Program
The Community Clinic staff helps eligible patients file for disability. These patients can continue to receive treatment at the clinic until they begin to receive their disability.
-
Medical Referrals
Oftentimes, a patient that does not have a physician has a difficult time getting in to see one. Through the Wesley Community Clinic, referrals are often made to physicians in our area or to the University Medical Center in Jackson, MS for a charity rate or free services. Many times a physician has been known to donate his services but must have an operating room, anesthetists, etc., for which there will be a charge.
-
Free Lab Work
Through the Wesley Community Clinic, we are able to have lab work done for our clients through an indigent program with Lab Corp.
Pediatric S.A.N.E. Exams (Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner)
Whenever a child discloses abuse through a videotaped forensic interview (located in the Victim Services Agency)and the abuse took place over 72 hours, the child will be taken to the Pediatric SANE room for a medical forensic examination. These exams are done with Pediatric SANE (Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner) and a physician specially trained in this area. Our exam room is beautifully furnished and child friendly and staffed with the best in the field from the three hospitals in Meridian.
In-House Fitness
The Health Care Agency has an area which is called the “Tranquility Room” which houses spaces for cat naps, dining, and cardio-vascular exercise. It is important to take care of staff in order to ensure that those coming through our doors with stressors of their own will be given the best service each time. Employees are given the opportunity throughout the day to relax, stretch, unwind and prepare for the rest of their day! Yoga stretches are offered during the lunch hour in the Gold Room.
