FOSTER CHRISTMAS ADOPTION PROGRAM
The Christmas Foster Care Program provides Christmas for abused and neglected children who are placed in shelters and or foster homes in the surrounding counties. These children are separated from their families and often times even their siblings. Some of these children have never received anything for Christmas and all have endured traumatic abuse. This year the program has over 600 children in need.
The process works as follows:
~ Applications are sent out to social workers in each of the counties in which we serve.
~ The Department of Human Services workers fill them out and send them back to Wesley House
~ Wesley House is then responsible for “adopting” the children (buying toys for them and getting the donations back to Wesley House by the pre-determined date for pick up
~ DHS workers make appointments to pick up the toys and deliver them to their children just in time for Christmas.
Strict compliance with confidentiality protocols and procedures are in place to protect the identities of the children.
Basic Guidelines For Foster Care Christmas Adoption
There are no specific requirements as far as spending amounts for each child. Everyone is asked to use the same guidelines they would with their own children. A few toys and clothing would be nice.
Please follow their list as closely as possible. But remember, it is a wish list, and no child gets everything they wish for.
Each child will be given a code number. Please make sure that code appears on all packages
Deadline for all packages back in to Wesley House is Friday, December 11th, 2009
Anyone Interested in Adopting out kids through this program is asked to call
